Palestinian Israeli Peace NGO Forum

Activities

Joint Activities - Committees & Working Groups

The Forum’s committees were established in order to give Forum members a space in which to design specific activities for other Forum members. Member organizations volunteer to participate in these committees and the committee then determines the content of joint activities. The Palestinian-Israeli Peace NGO Forum has also established joint working groups which are composed of representatives from member organizations. Working groups are coalitions of Forum members who work together with the purpose of advancing peace work by focusing on a specific field or topic within the greater context of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Working groups cater to the needs on the ground that arise from the conflict, and are critical for keeping the Forum active, relevant and productive in terms of creating tangible changes on the ground. The working groups function on two tracks—the joint track and the unilateral track. These two tracks enable the groups to maximize effectiveness by enabling members to work both on a broader regional level and on more domestic levels.

Jerusalem Working Group
The Jerusalem Working Group was founded in Jericho2010 at the request of Forum member organizations who felt that it was critical to have a working group dedicated to pooling resources and efforts committed to resolving the issue of Jerusalem.
Education for Peace Working Group
The Education Working Group was established in 2009. The education working group includes Forum members who are engaged in matters of Peace Education, or the role of education and encounter programs in establishing peace.
Young Peace Leaders Working Group
The Young Peace Leaders Working group was established in fall of 2009 with the purpose of bringing together a critical mass of young Palestinian and Israeli peace leaders to work together on an ongoing basis.
International Affairs Committee
The committee was formed in 2009, works on unilateral and bilateral activities in the Peace NGO Forum, and its tasks were set for outreach activities of the Forum, The Committee’s task is to map international organizations that work in peace building activities and set networking and cooperation activities with them. The International Committee was re-launched in 2009 with two new co-chairs, Mr. Ahmad Hijzai (Neveh Shalom-Wahat al Salaam) and Dr. Noah Salameh (the Center for Conflict Resolution & Reconciliation). Unlike the Steering Committee to which members are elected, any member who wishes to may participate in the Joint International Committee on a meeting-to-meeting basis.
Joint Steering Committee
Political Working Group

All Forum member organizations always have the choice of opting in or out of any of the working group’s public campaigns or events as some Forum members are purposefully apolitical and prefer not to engage in political or controversial work. Israeli head: Prof. Dan Jacobson Palestinian head: Mr. Saman Khoury
Education Committee
The committee was formed in 2009, and its tasks were set to work on the education for peace unilateral and bilateral activities of the Peace NGO Forum.
